Peradex

PERADEX-MEDICAL DEVICES STERILIZATION REDEFINED

Peradex is a high-level disinfectant and sterilant for endoscope and medical devices. It is effective against pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. Peradex achieves high-level disinfection/sterilization within 10 minutes of immersion. Peradex is activated by simply dissolving in tap water to form a highly effective biocidal solution. It has a unique corrosion inhibition system, allied to a neutral pH solution, optimises efficacy and compatibility.

New Standards in Medical Instrument Sterilization

Peracetic acid-based solutions are considered to be a more potent disinfectant than other disinfectants; are sporicidal, bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal at low concentrations; and are environment friendly. They have replaced traditional disinfectants for medical devices, endoscopes and haemodialysers. Peracetic acid, when combined with hydrogen peroxide, was found to be more effective, typically against glutaraldehyde-resistant mycobacteria. Sterilization of instruments, such as flexible labile endoscopes that cannot be heat sterilized, is currently carried out using a 2% solution of activated glutaraldehyde. In the absence of any viable alternative for sterilization instruments, this has been the practice.

Peradex as Safety Point of view

Serious detrimental effects on the health of nurses and theatre staff, causing such health problems as asthma, dermatitis, conjunctivitis, sinusitis and allergic rhinitis.
Peradex is a unique powder system that is cost-effective and meets all the medical criteria required of an instrument sterilant/disinfectant. Peradex has a proven safety profile for end-users with none of the undesirable properties of skin sensitization, toxic fumes or unpleasant odours that are associated with aldehyde solutions.
